Easy Oven London Broil Recipe Dry Rub
I grew up in a meat and potatoes family. My father wasn't big on vegetables, but loved a good steak. I wasn't a fan of red meat when I was growing up and usually kept a bag of spinach on hand to eat whenever we were having steak for dinner.
Now I look back at my younger self in hindsight and think I was crazy. Steak has become a favorite meal of mine and I really enjoyed coming up with a London Broil recipe as London Broil is a cheap cut that's easy cut to marinate. This Oven Baked Garlic Rosemary London Broil recipe did not disappoint!

How to cook London Broil in the oven
London broil is an easy and versatile cut of steak to cook. In the warmer months it can be grilled, but in the cold months I like to broil it in the oven.
Step 1: Marinate
First I make my marinade for the London Broil and let it marinate for a few hours up to 24 hours. This process will help to both season and tenderize the meat.
Step 2: How long to bake London Broil in the Oven
Turn your broiler on high and allow to preheat for several minutes. Place your London Broil on a baking sheet and pat dry with a paper towel. Broil for 4-5 minutes per a side or until desired doneness. To serve, slice thinly across the grain.
How to marinate London Broil
There are many types of marinades that can be used for a london broil. In this recipe I used a garlic rosemary rub. I also like to use balsamic marinades, asian marinades, or spicing it up with a spicy style marinade. Most marinades are a combination of oil, vinegar and seasonings.
To marinade the meat, place meat in a sealed container sauce as a ziploc bag or a Tupperware. Place all marination in the container with the meat and ensure is covers meat on all sides. Allow to marinate for several hours up to 24 hours.
What to serve with Oven Baked Garlic Rosemary London Broil
I usually pair steak with fresh vegetables to balance out the plate. Roasted asparagus, steamed broccoli, garlic spinach and roasted brussel sprouts are usually my favorites. But one of the most classic pairings of course is mashed potatoes. It's a classic for a reason and if given the option I'll always be swayed to make that as the side.
What type of beef is London Broil
You probably won't find a cut of beef labelled London broil at the grocery store. Instead look for Top Round Steak as this is the same cut but with the typical name you'd see in a grocery store. If you can't find it in the meat section, ask your local butcher!
This cut of meat is fairly economical and costs less than fancier cuts of steak like ribeye or sirloin. Whenever it's on sale, I usually stock up and buy one to keep in the freezer.
Ingredients Needed
- 3 Pounds Top Round Steak
- 4 Garlic Cloves Minced
- 3 Tbsp Parsley Chopped
- 2 Tbsp Rosemary
- ½ Cup Olive Oil
- ¼ Cup Soy Sauce
Storage
Marination: Store meat in the marinade in an airtight container for up to 24 hours in the fridge. Do not leave the meat out at room temperature when marinating.
Leftovers: Store leftover meat in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Meat can be reheated via microwave or on stovetop for best results.
